I have recently been using acupuncture for beauty purposes-I take REALLY good care of my skin, but at 25 I am starting to notice some fine lines on my forehead. So many people just get Botox these days, but in my quest to live a chemical-free lifestyle I am really trying to avoid that! Injecting chemicals into my face from the age of 25 onward just doesn’t sound appealing to me. Plus, Botox has many side effects. I find that prevention and consistency are key, and facial rejuvenation acupuncture has been an excellent addition to my skincare and overall holistic health routine to look and feel my best.
Facial rejuvenation acupuncture works by stimulating the production of collagen which can reduce wrinkles, diminish fine lines, remove age spots and lift and tone muscles. This non-invasive natural beauty treatments help the skin regain its youthful glow.
I’ve done 3 sessions so far, and I am loving the results- my skin is literally glowing! Everyone has been asking me what I’m doing differently, and honestly the facial acupuncture is the only thing in my routine that’s changed.
What is Acupuncture?
Many people have heard about acupuncture but aren’t actually sure how it works. Acupuncture is the insertion of sterile needles into specific points on the body for many ailments. Originating in China, the theory and practice of acupuncture has been around for thousands of years and is effective for a wide variety of problems. Some of the common ailments it can alleviate include pain, headaches/migraines, digestive issues, allergies, fertility, stress/anxiety, PTSD, and more.
About Holistic Healing Acupuncture
I connected with Amanda at Holistic Healing Acupuncture and have visited her clinic several times for my facial rejuvenation acupuncture. Amanda is a Master Acupuncturist and founder of Holistic Healing. She develops customized treatment plans and focuses on getting to the root cause of health issues instead of just masking the symptoms. I was looking for a great place to get acupuncture and I’m so happy I found Amanda because she aligns with my health values and goals. I really like the vibe of her clinic- she is really dedicated to promoting the holistic principle of honoring the whole person (body, mind and spirit) and all of her treatments and prescriptions are plant based, all natural and chemical free. In addition to facial acupuncture, Amanda does a full analysis and will use it to determine any underlying imbalances in your body that affect your skin. As for me, I struggle with sleep especially when my stress levels increase from work which causes me to have dark circles around my eyes. During my consult Amanda noticed this and explained how stress can affect my body and skin complexion. She then added acupuncture points on my ears to help me relax and prescribed me a natural herbal formula to reduce the dark circles- it worked wonders! The clinic is conveniently located in River Oaks on Shepherd, and it’s very easy to make an appointment online (or even message them on Instagram, they are super responsive!)
What to expect?
On your first visit, expect an analysis of your physical, nutritional, and spiritual lifestyle. Be prepared to talk about any specific ailments you have and your goals for your acupuncture. We are all unique, individual beings, so expect your treatment to be customized to your specific needs. A typical acupuncture session lasts 30 minutes and involves the insertion of 10-20 very thin, stainless steel needles. You’ll be laying on a comfortable bed with a heater for your feet to keep them warm with the needles in. This is a great time to meditate, do a visualization or simply take a cat nap! Watch some of my Instagram stories for some videos from my services.
Does it hurt?
Absolutely not! Trust me, I’ve been terrified of needles my entire life- in fact, when I get my blood work done each year I still have to look away when they put the needle in. Acupuncture needles are TINY and as thin as a hair- you might feel the slightest prick when they go in, but I felt practically nothing and was so comfortable I even fell asleep.
What other services can I get?
Ok, I completely understand some of you may opposed to any type of needles especially ones going in your face. If that’s you, no worries-Holistic Healing has a lot of different healthcare options for those who still want to try natural medicine such as cupping, laser treatments, herbal formulas, CBD oils, crystal healing and LED therapy. Some other services that Holistic Healing Acupuncture provides include stress management, anxiety, fertility, pain reduction and allergy relief.
In conclusion, I’d like to say what I always say- what you put ON your body is just as important as what you put IN it. Your body is a temple! Take care of it now and fuel it with plant-based, chemical free foods and products.
I highly recommend Holistic Healing for facial rejuvenation acupuncture, as well as any other health/wellness or beauty concern. Finding a health professional that works WITH your body to address the root cause, rather than masking the symptoms with pharmaceuticals, is essential to living a long, happy, healthy life!
